French National Day is the anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, a major event of the French Revolution. In school this was celebrated by inviting children to come to school dressed as French landmarks, famous individuals or in the colours of the French flag. The day was spent studying French artists, recreating artwork in their style and learning about the history of this day.
