In July 2025, just before the summer holidays began, work commenced on the revamp of our

much-loved Heene library! This work was funded by the lovely Friends of Heene Primary School and was led by Rebecca Atkinson (Toby’s mum), Miss Greathead and Miss Luke. Our aim was to give the library some much-needed love and get it all ready for the start of the new academic year. We decided that the renovations would be based around a beach theme to celebrate our local area and how important Mrs Usher’s beach school sessions are to Heene.

After many hours of hard work, we are all amazed by the results and how beautiful the library now looks! This would not have been achieved without the commitment of many of our teachers, teaching assistants and PTA volunteers who gave up their weekends AND days in the beginning of the summer holidays to make this magic happen. We are beyond grateful to everyone who helped us with this project and cannot wait for our library to be loved and used for many years to come by our pupils at Heene.

Achieving this project was the perfect example of how amazing TEAM HEENE is with so many people within our school community coming together, giving up their time and working endlessly to give our pupils the best!
