Absence + Lateness Procedures

We believe that in order to reach their full potential, children need to attend school regularly and punctually. High levels of absence are associated with low academic achievement.

We aim to work together with parents to ensure that all children at our school attend both regularly and punctually.

PUNCTUALITY
Parents should ensure that their child arrives at school in time for the start of registration (8.40 am). If a child arrives after 8.50am his/her parent should report directly to the school office. Children are considered late if they arrive between 8.50-9.00am (although the register will remain open). After 9.00am the register is closed and the absence becomes unathorised.

EXTERNAL APPOINTMENTS
Parents should notify school of external appointments in advance (providing where possible the appointment card/letter), and ensure that appointments are made out of the school day to keep disruption to a minimum, although we do appreciate this may not always be possible.

ILLNESS
Parents should ensure that if their child is to be absent from school for any unavoidable reason such as sickness they should contact the school as soon as possible, preferably on the first morning of absence.  Please call the school on 01903 201386 and leave a message on the absence line stating: Name of your child, Class and specific reason for absence.

(We have a policy of 48hr exclusion from school following a bout of sickness or diarrhoea - as advised by the HPA).
